The race for the 2014 Golden Globe awards is officially underway with the announcement of the nominees, and award watchers have finally got an indication of which films and actors are headed for Golden Globe glory.
12 Years A Slave and the comedy-drama American Hustle top the list of nominations with seven each.
Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde and Aziz Ansari were introduced by HFPA president Theo Kingma at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and announced the following nominations: [table id=9 /] In October the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that “Parks and Recreation’s” Amy Poehler and former “30 Rock” star Tina Fey  will return to host the ceremony following their ratings-winning appearance in 2013. Viewership was up 17% on the previous year and critics hailed the “SNL” alums for their tongue-in-cheek approach and ability to effortlessly move the ceremony along.
“I go to a ranch for two weeks,” Poehler joked to Ellen DeGeneres of how she will prepare for the big night this time around. “No talking. No food, just juice. And then I consult my astrologer. Then I go into a cave and I just lie on the ground and I have people just shout jokes into the cave.”
“And I just let the wind take it and if it lands it’s good and if it doesn’t it goes away,” she went on. “Then I just drive my solid-gold Porsche right into a brick wall and I prank call Sandra Bullock and I get started.”
Aspiring actress Sosie Bacon, the daughter of Globe winners Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, was named  Miss Golden Globe 2014. Chosen each year by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Miss Golden Globe assists with the Globes ceremony and is typically the daughter of Hollywood celebrities.
The 71st Annual Golden Globes will be presented Jan. 12 and will air live on NBC.
