It may well go down in Hollywood history as the best awards show ever. Laden with stars, surprises, laughter some poignant moments too, the 72nd Golden Globes was a celebration to remember.

The 72nd Golden Globe awards got off to a rollicking start as some of the world's biggest stars packed the red carpet, waving to fans in the bleachers and posing for photographers and TV cameras as they took their time to savour the fun at the beginning of Hollywood's biggest and best party. Rain which had threatened to swamp the red carpet and led to the tenting of the arrivals area where the limos drop off their passengers, cleared up just in time for the stars to linger and chat as they made their way under the hotel canopy where they were greeted with champagne flutes.

It's red carpet time at the Beverly Hilton Hotel as preparations for Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony pick up speed in readiness for the big day. HFPA president Theo Kingma was joined by Miss Golden Globe Greer Grammer and the show's producer Barry Adelman in rolling out the red carpet which will line the walkway for the dozens of stars who will be at the show.
