Hailee Steinfeld bids goodbye to her teenage years with a fittingly memorable performance in writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig’s The Edge of Seventeen. The California native, who turned 20 last December 11, has blossomed into a stunning young woman, no longer the kid we first met when she made her major screen debut in the Coen brothers’ western, True Grit.

We first noticed Hailee Steinfeld in the Coen Brothers’ True Grit, all of 13 years old and standing her own opposite acting giants like Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin and Matt Damon. In writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig’s The Edge of Seventeen she offers a bravura performance of a different kind, exploring and exposing the emotional chaos of a very smart, very bright teenager in the punishing universe of high school.

Hailee Steinfeld, nominated for major awards at 13 for her performance as Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers' adaptation of True Grit, is back with the clever teenage comedy The Edge of Seventeen. This is also the title of the 1981 hit song  by Stevie Nicks.
