He has always been one of the most gracious artists in Hollywood, so when Kevin Costner could not attend this year's Golden Globe Awards due to the floods near his home, he was very sad to have missed out on being in the room when his name was called. Of course, we sent him his award and he posted his acceptance speech.

Kevin Costner has played various versions of the American everyman for over four decades. With prominent roles like Eliot Ness (The Untouchables), Crash Davis (Bull Durham), Ray Kinsella (Field of Dreams), Wyatt Earp (Wyatt Earp), Jonathan Kent (Man of Steel), and his Golden-Globe-winning role as Lieutenant Dunbar in Dances with Wolves, Costner has shown range, depth, and unwavering patriotism.

For over 40 years the HFPA has recorded famous and celebrated actresses, actors and filmmakers. The world's largest collection of its kind - over 10,000  items- is now in the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences Margaret Herrick Library.

Kevin Costner holds the two Golden Globes he won for Best Director and producer of the Best Motion Picture-Drama for Dances with Wolves (he was nominated for Best Actor for the same film) at the award ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday, January 19, 1991.   It is not uncommon for male actors turned directors to win two Golden Globes- Robert Redford, for example, did it in 1981 for Ordinary People but did not attend the ceremony.
