Lucas Till: Reinventing MacGyver

Since its prime time days in the eighties the iconic TV spy adventure series MacGyver has become somewhat of a cult show and cultural meme. Perhaps that’s because it’s namesake protagonist (played by Richard Dean Anderson), with his endless resourcefulness and Yankee ingenuity anticipated the maker and tech culture we live in. And then there’s the simple fun of watching. Now CBS is updating the show for a new generation. The new MacGyver is prequel of sorts, taking place about ten years before the events of the original, allowing for a millennial cast. We spoke to Lucas Till who reprises the titular role, about stepping in those shoes.
