Steve McQueen: Gone, Not Forgotten

This month marks 35 years since the passing of Steve McQueen – an actor whose light burned bright during a career cut short by cancer in 1980. Until then the “king of cool” as he came to be known, embodied the rebel, nonconformist, maverick leading man like no one perhaps before or since. Between 1964 and 1974 McQueen was nominated four times for a Golden Globe and twice awarded the Henrietta award by the HFPA as “World Film Favorite”. This month a new documentary, Steve McQueen: The Man and Le Mans will tell the story of the epic making of Le Mans in which he played a troubled racecar driver. We celebrate him with a remembrance by Ana Maria Bahiana and an interview with his son Chad by Ramzi Malouki.
