Celebrating Our Golden Globe Winners: The 2000s

Hollywood enters a new millennium and the Globes go with it. If there’s a through line for the decade it may well be the increasing global flavor of movies. Having worked to connect Hollywood and the world for over 50 years, that is no surprise to the Hollywood Foreign Press. Films like Slumdog Millionaire, Babel, Moulin Rouge, Lost in Translation and Vicky Cristina Barcelona attest to an increasing worldliness of American cinema – and a growing diversity behind the camera. Locations and influences grow more exotic, aware of the world, a reflection perhaps of the growing importance of foreign markets, which now surpass domestic box office. Hollywood has embraced a growing artistic diversity as well and more authors with indie roots begin to show up on our Globes stage to receive their awards. Come along as we count down the winners of the 2000’s… and inch closer to the 75th!
