Foreign Markets Boost Golden Globe Winner Life of Pi

by Elmar Biebl Ang Lee’s Life of Pi — a Golden Globe winner in the Original Score category — is the latest example demonstrating the increasing importance of foreign film markets. Worldwide box office up to date is 501,4 million dollars. But the film’s overseas revenue is four times more than the box office in the North American territories: 100,4 million dollars Life of Pi had one of the strongest showing in China with a total of 90,8 million dollars. Due to the continuing international response Ang Lee’s film has a good chance of becoming one of the 100 biggest box office successes of all time.
