A delegation of the HFPA joined the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) at the celebration of its 40th anniversary. SIFF is one of the top film festivals in North America. 460 features, shorts and documentaries are being offered to more than 200.000 attendees during a 25 day period from May 15 to July 9. One of the highlights of the Festival was an event with five times Golden Globe nominee Chewitel Ejiofor. He presented his first directorial debut, the short fim Columbite Tantalie and his most current film Half of a Yellow Sun by Biyi Bandele. A special screening of Joss Whedon’ 2005 sci-fi adventure Serenity featured Ejiofor’s first villainous role. On Monday, May 19, SIFF awarded him the Seattle International Film Festival Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting. An audience Q&A and a tribute reception followed the event.
