The HFPA and USC’s Annenberg School Present Panel on Press Freedom

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), and International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) will host a special “Safeguarding the Truth: Press Freedom and the Fight for Accountability” panel in partnership with the University of Southern California (USC) Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism on Oct. 10 on the USC campus.

The panel will feature journalists Ramzi Malouki (HFPA member), Bastian Obermayer (ICIJ member and deputy head of the investigative unit of Süddeutsche Zeitung)Marina Walker Guevara (ICIJ deputy director)Joel Simon (CPJ executive director), and Sheila Coronel (director of the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia Journalism School), with Gordon Stables, director of the USC Annenberg School of Journalism as moderator. The group will discuss the trials and triumphs of today’s press and how people can continue to uphold the values and tenets of a free press: honesty, integrity, and impartiality.
