A Filipina investigative reporter and founder of the Manila-based news site Rappler, Maria Ressa has previously worked with CNN and ABS-CBN. For many years Ressa focused on terrorism in Southeast Asia. Now with Rappler she is committed to exposing corruption, documenting abuse and combatting misinformation. Maria Ressa was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2018 as part of The Guardians.
