Miracle in Cell No.7 (Turkey)

A remake of the popular 2013 South Korean film of the same name Miracle in Cell No.7 is directed by Mehmet Ada Oztekin. The story focuses on Memo (played by well-known Turkish actor Aras Bulut Iynemli) a developmentally challenged father and his little daughter Ova played by Nisa Sofiya Aksongu.
Memo lives with her beloved little Ova and grandmother Fatma Ana in a small Aegean town. Memo is a shepherd with a mental deficiency, but he lives happily in his small world. Ova is seven years old; Memo also has a mental age of seven years. Memo’s sole motivation in life is his love for his daughter Ova and his love of life. The father and the daughter are each other’s everything.
In 1983 when martial law is still in effect after the military coup in Turkey, Memo is accused of the murder of the garrison commander’s daughter, his life is turned upside down. He’s sentenced to death and sent to jail to await execution.

Meanwhile, his daughter Ova tries to do whatever she can to continue to live together with her great-grandmother. Grandmother Fatma Ana’s heart, tired because of all the things she has gone through, cannot withstand anymore, and she breathes her last at an unexpected moment. Ova is now all alone in life, only her teacher, Mine, lends her a helping hand. Her only wish is to be reunited with her father. Memo is innocent but now he needs a miracle to be able to get back to his old life.
