Well the World Cup is finally under way in Brazil and with it the world’s biggest sports tournament. An estimated 2.5 billion people worldwide will follow the month long championship that will crown one country as the world’s reigning king of soccer. Yes, soccer fever (or football, if you prefer) is about to sweep the planet and that includes all of us here at the HFPA; with members hailing from over 30 countries – in many of which the Beautiful Game holds near-religious status – it’s safe to say that for the next month, in between film screenings, many will have an eye of the live broadcasts from Brazil (and one on the friendly office pool).
