All stars were on deck May 2 in Hollywood for the much-awaited premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the latest offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and sequel to the blockbuster, Doctor Strange, in 2016, which grossed over $677 M worldwide. Doctor Stephen Strange’s movie litany other than the eponymously titled film six years ago includes such films as Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and most recently Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Born in a family of actors, Benedict Cumberbatch has been many people, on stage or in front of a camera – and sometimes not even in his own body. From the supporting parts that, in the 00s, launched him in the Hollywood universe – in The Ends of the Earth, Atonement, The Other Boleyn Girl, Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy – to his unforgettable Sherlock in the BBC/PBS series, Cumberbatch has been heroes, villains, soldiers, scientists, artists, nobles, kings, the occasional dragon, the Grinch and, of course, a superhero doctor.

Benedict Cumberbatch is pulling double duty at TIFF. Already the talk of Venice with The Power of The Dog - (co-starring Kirsten Dunst and Jess Plemons) which won the Best Director award for Jane Campion.

This is Benedict Cumberbatch’s moment: Dr. Strange is on the big screen with Avengers: Infinity War (over $ 1 billion at the box office) and soon he'll be seen in a mind-blowing acting tour de force with Patrick Melrose, a five-episode limited series on Showtime.

Marvel and Disney just can’t seem to stop winning as their latest film Doctor Strange handily cast a spell on the domestic and international markets. The doctor in the title is Benedict Cumberbatch, who after having lost the use of his hands travels to Nepal to seek the healing powers of a sect of mystical sorcerers.
