She was born 45 years ago today in Iowa, grew up in Zimbabwe after her family moved back there, returned to college in the US and burst into the worldwide collective consciousness as Okoye in Black Panther and its sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She also starred in Avengers: Infinity Wars and is a highly accomplished playwright.
