Disney’s Jungle Cruise sailed to the top of the domestic and international box office charts and docked with a worldwide tally of $68. 1 million.

Dev Patel plays the eponymous David Copperfield in The Personal History of David Copperfield, directed by Armando Iannucci. It’s his second Golden Globe nomination – his first was in 2017 for Lion.

As the grown-up Saroo, the Indian boy adopted by an Australian family in director  Garth Davis’ Lion, Dev Patel found himself on a journey very similar to his own. “This is probably the project that I had the biggest personal connection t”, Dev Patel told us.

Dev Patel, 26, a British actor raised in London by immigrant Indian parents born in Kenya, was a regular in the TV series Skins (2006-2007) co-starring Nicholas Hoult, when he was cast by director Danny Boyle in Slumdog Millionaire (2008) at age 17, as a poor boy from Mumbai who wins a game show and the love of a girl (played by newcomer Freida Pinto). He started acting as a child, as a way to channel his energy, “I was a naughty kid”, he told the HFPA also saying he practiced karate and Tae Kwon Do, because the “discipline helped me.

In "Lion" Dev Patel stars as Indian orphan Saroo Brierley adopted by an Australian couple who uses Google Earth to find his original home and family. This emotional true story is based on Brierley's book "A Long Way Home" and directed by first time feature director Garth Davis.
