The 76th annual Cannes film festival hinted at trends on its glamorous opening night.  Elle Fanning showcased a silver and nude gown by Alexander McQueen with a skirt that could have come from The Great in its volume.

According to the history books, Catherine the Great was only 16 when she married Peter III, the heir to the throne of Russia. Actress Elle Fanning wasn’t much older when she stepped into the shoes of the woman who led a rebellion against her husband to eventually ascend to the throne as the title character in the Hulu series, The Great.

Barely three years old, Elle Fanning was already acting in front of the camera in the film I Am Sam and the mini-series, Taken. Twenty years later, Fanning is a full-fledged actress, with numerous films and television shows to her credit.

What is eclectic fashion? It's choices made by people who eschew mainstream. They have an innate sense of who they are and what works for them.

Right now, we should be in the south of France with the Mediterranean lapping white sands, the best of film being shown for the first time, and fashion lighting up the premieres. Let’s not look at now.
