Steven Spielberg receives his first Best Director Golden Globe for Schindler’s List at the 51st ceremonies held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday January 22, 1994.   He would receive two more Golden Globes in 1999: Best Director and producer of the Best Motion Picture drama for Saving Private Ryan.

Let's go back to the Golden Globe Awards of February 24, 1955, at the Ambassador Hotel’s Cocoanut Grove, in Los Angeles, when Marlon Brando received a Golden Globe as Best Actor of 1954 for Elia Kazan's On the Waterfront. The following year Brando would be presented with a special award as World Film Favorite-Male.
