Jane Fonda was one of the special guests at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Not only did the iconic actress and producer deliver the Palme d’Or during the closing ceremony, she also participated in an one hour and a half Q&A with avid festival-goers eager to learn more from this Hollywood living legend.

Eva Longoria, Brie Larson, Charlotte Le Bon, Daniella Tarantino and Quentin Tarantino, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Fan Bingbing, ikram-abdi Ballgowns, brooches and earrings created stylish fashion at the Elemental screening and closing ceremony red carpet during the 76th Cannes Film Festival.  Jury member, Brie Larson wore a crystal gown by Chanel, her hair in a side part, cascading in soft waves over her shoulder.

Rod Steiger, Golden Globe winner for his role as a tough-talking Sheriff in In the Heat of the Night, was also known for his sarcasm in private life. “Actors sense that the wealth and adoration they enjoy for practically doing nothing is undeserved”, he said in a conversation with the HFPA.

Jane Fonda is a never-ending testament to the strength, courage, and discipline of women, in front and away from the cameras. The trailblazing feminist, activist, trendsetter, writer, and actress, has made waves by fiercely protecting women’s rights to abortion and raising awareness on climate change.

The Cecil B. deMille Award recipient is an unbelievable 85 today.

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have long established themselves as an appealing comedy duo, as evidenced by their seven-year run in the titular roles in the hit series Grace and Frankie. Theirs is an onscreen relationship which dates to 1980, with their starring roles in the three-time Golden Globe nominated movie, 9 to 5.

From anti-war Hanoi Jane to the Jane of the fitness tape, from feminism to human rights to environmental activism – not to mention her film career – Jane Fonda, strong and healthy as ever at 84, has always been, not only hyperactive but an indefatigable activist. She is still sounding the call to action, still trying to inspire young people – indeed, people in general – to open their eyes to the social injustices and the perils of climate change.

Jane Fonda taught Hollywood – and the rest of the world – the importance of speaking up and speaking out at a time when that was anything but fashionable. She was and is an enthusiastic activist, standing up not only for what she believes in but simply what is right.

Jane Fonda and John Travolta receive a special Golden Globe as World Film Favorites at the 36th Golden Globes, January 27, 1979, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.  This award, discontinued in 1980, was determined according to the results of a worldwide survey by the Reuters News Bureau.
