Kelley Carter

Kelley L. Carter is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who currently hosts a celebrity film, TV and music interview series, Another Act, for ESPN’s The Undefeated. Graduating with a BA in Journalism from Michigan State University, Carter started out as an intern at the St. Petersburg Times and Minneapolis Star Tribune before joining the Detroit Free Press as music critic and columnist from 1998 to 2007. In 2008, she won a national Emmy for an episode of the docuseries Impact, focusing on the 40th anniversary of Aretha Franklin’s song ‘Respect.’ Carter worked as a staff entertainment reporter at the Chicago Tribune and USA Today and freelanced for outlets including MTV News, Essence, Jet, Uptown, Heart & Soul, Complex and Vibe magazines. Carter then became Entertainment Editor at Ebony magazine and Senior Editor at BuzzFeed before joining ESPN. Her expertise in all things entertainment has led to regular TV appearances offering commentary and providing breaking entertainment news updates on CNN, HLN, E!, Fox News, MSNBC and Al Jazeera.
