Diane Baker

Diane Baker (born Feb 25 1938) is an American actress, producer and educator of over 50 years’ standing.


Born in Hollywood, the daughter of film actress Dorothy Harrington and her automobile husband Clyde Baker, she secured a seven-year contract with Twentieth Century Fox in 1958, and in 1959 made her film debut playing Anne Frank’s elder sister Margot in 1959’s The Diary of Anne Frank, for which role she received a Golden Globe nomination in 1960 for New Star of the Year – Actress.


From then until 2013, she worked regularly in film and television, winning a further Golden Globe nomination in 1964 for Best Supporting Actress in The Prize. She appeared three times with Joan Crawford in The Best of Everything (1959), Strait-Jacket (1964) and Della (1965), in the last two playing the star’s daughter.


She spent more than a decade teaching acting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she was appointed executive director of acting.


Never married, she has had high-profile relationships with some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Warren Beatty, Frank Langella and Michael Lerner.
