Frances Conroy

Frances Conroy (born in Monroe, Georgia, March 15, 1953) is mostly known for the role of Ruth Fisher Sibley in the television series Six Feet Under (2001 – 2005) for which she won a Golden Globe in 2004. Conroy’s career began with multiple roles for cinema, TV and especially for theater, acting for years on Broadway, in shows such as Othello (1980), The Secret Rapture (1990), In the Summer House (1994). Among her various roles, we remember Scent of a Woman (1992), Maid in Manhattan (2002), Catwoman (2004) until the most recent big hits Joker (2019) and The Power of the Dog (2021). In addition to the aforementioned Six Feet Under she is known for the role of the mother of Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) in How I Met Your Mother (2009 – 2014) and especially for the role of Dawn in Casual (2015), with which she received a Golden Globe nomination. She has also been part of the ensemble cast of American Horror Story (2011 – present) since the first season.
