Harold Russell

Harold Russell (born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, January 14, 1914, died January 29, 2002), an American soldier who lost his hands during World War II, was cast as a US Navy sailor in The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) directed by William Wyler. He won a special award at the 1947 Golden Globes for “Most Natural Performance.”
