Sessue Hayakawa

Sessue Hayakawa (born Kintaro Hayakawa on June 10, 1886 in Chiba, Japan; died Nov. 23, 1973)  became a heartthrob in Hollywood silents such as The Typhoon (1914) and The Cheat (1915). By 1918, he was earning $2 million a year through his own production company. He performed in Europe and JapanHe earned his sole Golden Globe nomination as supporting actor for the 1957 Bridge on the River Kwai. Other film credits include Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson (1960).
