Alison Brie was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Ruth Wilder (aka “Zoya the Destroya”) on the first season of GLOW, the Netflix series created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. The series about the eponymous eighties female wrestling television show has built its success as a story of female solidarity and empowerment. Behind the period glitter, spandex leotards and big hair, it is a feminist parable which has resonated with contemporary sensibilities and grown a faithful following. The HFPA’s Tina Jhønk Christensen and Mirai Konishi spoke with Brie about the show's second season.
