In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third installment of the reboot series begun in 2005, the inevitable conflict between apes and humans escalates as they vie for world dominance. Matt Reeves returns for duty behind the camera (as well as on screenplay). Also back is the amazing Andy Serkis as Caesar, the chimp who leads the ape rebellion surrounded by digitally enhanced simian cohorts who have pushed the boundaries of motion capture acting to ever more impressive heights. On the human side, Woody Harrelson is cast as a take-no-prisoners military leader. As always we can expect a story rife with allegory about tolerance, hate, race, species, and fear of the other. The HFPA’s Mirai Konishi asked Harrelson and Serkis about the film.
