The HFPA announced a grant of $500,000 to Help Refugees at the annual charity event hosted in Cannes this year with Participant Media, producers of Ai Wei Wei's refugee documentary Human Flow. The award is part of the HFPA’s program of humanitarian aid, which in the past has benefitted groups like Film Aid and the Kailash Foundation. Help Refugees is an organization founded in 2015 as a volunteer effort to help refugees in the “Calais Jungle” and devoted to distributing aid to refugee camps around the world. Robert Pattinson and Golden Globe winner Dame Helen Mirren helped HFPA president Meher Tatna present the grant to Josie Naughton of Help Refugees.
