Ethan Hawke on “The Good Lord Bird” & Learning History Through Movies

Starring and executive produced by Ethan Hawke, The Good Lord Bird, tells the story of controversial abolitionist John Brown told through the eyes of Henry "Little Onion" Shackleford (played by Joshua Caleb Johnson) a newly freed teenager who joins him on a holy crusade to end slavery. The seven-episode series is based on the National Book Award-winning novel by James McBride. HFPA Member Ramzi Malouki spoke to Ethan Hawke who explains how this is one of his most challenging roles yet.
